Confidence building

What is self-confidence? Is it having a permanent grin, a bone crushing handshake and making lots and lots of eye contact? Is it never feeling uncertain or nervous about anything, ever? I don’t think so. The word “confidence” comes from the Latin “confidere” meaning to “trust fully”. So being self-confident simply means that you can trust yourself fully. Even when things are uncertain, you can feel comfortable with that uncertainty.

Having confidence in yourself makes life more enjoyable, and it makes you more attractive and fun to be around. It isn’t about intimidating people, or arrogantly trying to impress them. It’s about feeling very comfortable with who you are and what you do.

When you have that basic trust in yourself, an interesting thing happens. Instead of self-consciously trying to control everything, and desperately avoiding making a mistake, everything becomes easier, smoother and more relaxed. Even if something doesn’t go the way you wanted, you can take it in your stride, knowing that whatever happens, you'll be okay.

Hypnotherapy is the ideal way to learn this kind of confidence, because true confidence is not something you can consciously create. People who make a great deal of effort to look confident are just imitating confidence. True confidence is about consciously letting go, and genuinely trusting yourself to do well. Hypnosis is the simplest and most powerful method for calming and relaxing the conscious mind, and learning to access your instinctive skills and resources. In doing so, you rapidly develop a deep trust in both yourself and your abilities.
